BLACKY ROSE OF BRIARCLIFFS . . .
In recent years, countless
visitors have come to Waverly Farm to see the "black cow" that earned her
share of laurels on the tanbark trail. Though we lost "Blacky" in October
2006, we treasure the memories she gave us in the show ring, and back home
in the barn as well.
From 1997 through 2003, "Blacky"
placed in the top four of her class at The All American Jersey Show every
year but one. She was named Reserve Grand Champion of the prestigious show
in 2001 and returned the following year as Grand Champion. "Blacky" also was
Grand Champion of the Central National Jersey Show in 2002.
For her accomplishments, Blacky Rose of Briarcliffs was selected
as the
All-Breed Access
Honorable Mention All-American Aged Cow in 2006.
"Blacky" has 10 registered
daughters and sent seven sons to A.I., including Blackys Big Time-ET at
Select Sires. Six of her daughters are appraised - five of them are
Excellent.
