Sales and Events

We are one of the country's most active state Jersey clubs. We gather for meetings in the winter and summer and host the Northeast Jersey Classic and Breeders Sale with the New England Jersey Breeders Association in the spring.

We also coordinate activities with Jersey breeders from other New England states. Several of our members also belong to the New England Jersey Breeders Association.

Calendar
February 16 VERMONT JERSEY BREEDERS ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING, Grange Hall, East Bethel; registration 10:45 am; meeting 11 am; lunch noon.
April 27 NORTHEAST JERSEY CLASSIC AND BREEDERS SALE, Dusty Creek Farm, Wallingford, VT; Jersey Marketing Service, sale mgr.

Billings Farm and Museum, represented by herd manager Jason Johnson, left, and summer intern, Alayna Perkins, donated Billings Impression Roselyn as the prize for a raffle to benefit Vermont juniors at the summer picnic in 2013. Raffle winner, Jarrett Snow, is at the halter.

Summer Picnic
This past year, a joint summer picnic was held with the New England Jersey Breeders Association at Mapleline Farm in Hadley, MA, in July. The purely social event was opportunity to take a break from chores and spend time visiting with peers.

Northeast Jersey Classic and Breeders Sale
For 77 years, the Vermont Jersey Breeders Association had sponsored a state sale in the fall. In 2014, though, the Vermont and New England Jersey associations combined their spring and fall sale efforts into the Northeast Jersey Classic and Breeders Sale in May.

This past year, the Northeast Jersey Classic and Breeders Sale was held on April 29. The 273 lots of Registered Jerseys sold for an average of $1,404.76.

Consignments from popular cow families brought premium prices. The sale was again held at Dusty Creek Farm, owned by Gerald and Diane Colvin of Wallingford, VT. Thirty-six buyers from 10 states coast-to-coast made purchases.

and Breeders Sale at $4,400. The 11-month-old calf was purchased by Poulin Farms, represented by Josh Poulin, center. She was consigned by Mapleline Farms, represented by John Kokoski and Jason Johnson.
Diane and Jerry Colvin, right, hosted the Northeast Jersey Classic and Breeders
Sale for the second time in April. AJCA-NAJ Area Representative Brenda Snow took a moment to thank the couple for their hospitality.
