EVENTS

The OJBA is one of the country's most active state Jersey organizations. Check our Calendar of Events below for deadlines and activities.

March Herd appraisals in the state of Ohio.
March 26 Spring Dairy Expo Jersey Show; Ohio Expo Center, Columbus; 11:30am. Click here for details.
April 1 Advertising deadline for April/May issue of the Ohio Jersey News.

Several times a year, we get together to tend association business, recognize accomplishments and catch up on industry news. State shows give us opportunity to exhibit our best animals. Consignment sales allow us to merchandise excess breeding animals or buy quality foundation stock.

The Pioneer Service Award was presented to Ted and Diane Smart and their family.

Amanda Curtis-Dagenfield and Ally Jones (front).

The annual meeting is held in January. Business and committee reports are reviewed and officers elected. Show accomplishments for adults and juniors are recognized through the All-Ohio Awards. As well, a number of individual awards are given.

2009 Ohio Jersey Queen Hannah Geyer, left, 2009 Ohio Junior Jersey Queen Kelsey Oakley, center, and 2009 Ohio Jersey Princess Allison Mangun.

The summer picnic is held at a different host farm each year. This gives members the chance to see how other producers manage and profit from Jersey cattle. Herd production achievements are recognized and the Ohio Jersey Queen is named.

Ohio Jersey breeders receive All-Ohio awards for success in the show ring in 2009.
Junior Ohio Jersey breeders earn Junior All-Ohio awards for honors
on the tanbark trail in 2009. Pictured are (back row) Marc Bolen, Ethan Starkey, Alexis Roe, Jacob Morgan, Heath Geyer, (front row) Jody Williams, J.T. Lemmermen, Grace Hageman, Trevor Greiwe, Erin Williams and Megan Cornish.

The OJBA hosts the Ohio Classic Spring Sale each year and breeders consign to a number of other local sales, including the Buckeye Classic and the Ohio Fall Sale. Ohio breeders also support several high-profile national sales, such as the National Heifer Sale and the All American Jersey Sale.

Shows are a way to compete with other breeders and visit about Jersey events.
