Several times a year, we get
together to tend association business, recognize accomplishments and catch
up on industry news. State shows give us opportunity to exhibit our best
animals. Consignment sales allow us to merchandise excess breeding animals
or buy quality foundation stock.

The 2007 Ohio Jersey Princesses were honored
at the Ohio Summer Picnic, held
at the farm of Eli Hilty in Holmesville this past June. Left to right are
Alicia Vogel, Winchester; Megan Thurston, Delaware; and Kira Andre,
Wauseon.
The annual meeting is held in
January. Business and committee reports are reviewed and officers elected.
Show accomplishments for adults and juniors are recognized through the
All-0hio Awards. As well, a number of individual awards are given.

Neil Diley, left,
presents the John Diley
Achievement Award to Andrew Bok. |
The summer picnic is held at a
different host farm each year. This gives members the chance to see how
other producers manage and profit from Jersey cattle. Herd production
achievements are recognized and the Ohio Jersey Queen is named.

The McKay family
accepts the Pioneer Service Award on behalf of Doug McKay. In front
are Doug's parents, Joan and Don. In back are wife, Renee, center,
and children, Will, Juliane, Josh, Deidre, Sam and Katie. Ted Smart,
right, presents the award. |
The OJBA hosts the Ohio
Classic Spring Sale each year and breeders consign to a number of other
local sales, including the Buckeye Classic and the Ohio Fall Sale. Ohio
breeders also support several high-profile national sales, such as the
National Heifer Sale and the All American Jersey Sale.
Shows are a way to compete
with other breeders and visit about Jersey events.
