Summer Picnic
The Nuhfers—Gary, Tom, Amy, Jason and Brandy with Gage—hosted the Ohio Jersey Breeders summer picnic at their farm, Bar-Lee Jerseys, in Willard.

Members of the Ohio Jersey Breeders Association met for their summer picnic on June 12 at Bar-Lee Jerseys in Willard. They recognized production achievements of their peers, toured the farm and enjoyed a picnic lunch at the social event.

RRF Comerica Daisy

RRF Comerica Daisy was named Grand Champion of the open show for TJ Classic and Reinholt Jerseys of Ansonia.

Ehrhardt Colton Julep, owned by Triple T, Duane Cole, Charity Mazzaro and Cybil Fisher of North Lewisburg was named Reserve Grand Champion.

Keaton and Kinley Topp of Botkins earned the Premier Breeder banner; TJ Classic Jerseys of Ansonia won the Premier Exhibitor banner.

Topp-View Lowes GP Debutante was Grand Champion of the junior show for Keaton Topp of Botkins.

Ohio Jersey breeders fared well in competition at the All American in November. Triple T and Cybil Fisher of North Lewisburg showed the Reserve National Grand Champion, Miss Triple T Serenity-ET. The Morgan and Richards families of Urbana showed the Overall Premier Performance Winner, Harmony Corners Fozzy-ET.

Several Ohio juniors were recognized at the Junior Banquet. Allison Mangun, left, of Burbank was honored for placing ninth in the 2014 National Jersey Youth Achievement Contest. Sarah and Rebekah Schonauer and William Hughes, all of Killbuck, placed in the 2015 Pot O'Gold Production Contest.

Several Ohio Jersey herds rank among the nation's top producers for AJCA lactation average for 2012.

Regan F. Miller and Family, Big Prairie, ranks 3rd for milk and 4th for protein with a lactation average of 24,178M, 1,055F and 866P on 103 cows. The herd ranks first for milk and protein and third for fat among herds with 80-149 cows.

Ohio Jersey Breeders Annual Meeting
  Ohio Jersey breeders were recognized for achievements at the state annual meeting in January. Among the honorees was Becky Firestone Hershey, center, who received the Pioneer Service Award. CLICK HERE to read more about other breeders who were honored as well.
Ohio Jersey Breeder Kudos

Two Ohio Jersey breeders were recently recognized for their involvement in Ohio agriculture during the 2012 Ohio Farm Bureau annual meeting in Columbus.

Bill Diley, Washington Court House, received the Distinguished Service Award as the Outstanding Agricultural/Cooperative Educator for 2012. Eddie Lou Meimer, Mount Gilead, was elected to the board of trustees of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation as Northwest Women’s Trustee. She will represent Farm Bureau members from 24 counties.
