Ohio Jersey breeders fared well at the recent All American Jersey Show in Louisville, KY.

In the open show, Ohio exhibitors earned 18 top-10 placings and showed two Reserve All Americans. In the junior show, Ohio youth exhibited two All Americans and five Reserve All Americans and won the state herd class for the second consecutive year. Eight other animals shown by Ohio juniors placed among the top five in their respective classes and Ohio juniors topped two of the three showmanship classes. Ledel Charm Lyda

The 50th Two-Year-Old Jersey Futurity at the Ohio State Fair was a resounding success! Sixty-eight entries from five states competed for prizes, with Ledel Charm Lyda, owned by the Leon Hesler Family of Winchester, being named winner.

DKG Vindication Apricot, exhibited by John, Donna, Trevor, Lane and Blake Greiwe and Grace, Garrett and Meredith Hageman of Sidney was tapped as reserve winner.

Sixty-eight entries from five states competed in the 50th Two-Year-Old Ohio Jersey Futurity. An overview of the class. The total purse for the futurity was $10,000 and the top prize was $1,500.

Elsie the Borden cow made an appearance at the Ohio State Fair to start the Ohio Jersey Futurity. She was escorted by Kenneth Knoop of Sidney. Since 1939 and the first Elsie, there have been at least 32 live Elsies and more of them have come from Ohio than any other state. Youth Awards Congratulations Ohio juniors for placing in youth contests sponsored by the American Jersey Cattle Association. All were recognized at the Junior Banquet held during All American festivities in Louisville, KY, in November.

Kyle Schirm also earned the McCullough Scholarship from the National Dairy Shrine and will be honored at the organization's banquet at World Dairy Expo.

 

Green Views Furor Jessica
For the second consecutive year, Green Views Furor Jessica has been named Grand Champion of the Ohio State Fair for the syndicate of Duane Cole, Thomas Mauric, Nina Koster and Renee McCauley, Conneaut. Stephan Sparkler Vera-ET was named Reserve Grand Champion. She is owned by Greg and Joel Bourne of Ansonia.

In the junior show, Indiana Veda was tapped as Grand Champion for Erin Williams of McConnelsville and Marhaven Justice Sugar-ET was named Reserve Grand Champion for Calla Mazzaro of Williamsfield.
