All American Kudos
  Pleasant Nook Guns Foxy Lady (left) was named 2015 Reserve All American Summer Yearling at the All American Jersey Show for Zach, Blake and Mitch Schulte of Blairtown. The Schultes also showed the third place senior calf, Schulte Bros Verbatim Electra-ET.
     

 

Jersey Junior Kara Maxwell, Donahue, right, was named second alternate in the National Jersey Queen Contest.

Maxwell was also honored at the Junior Banquet for receiving the V.L. Peterson Scholarship and placing ninth in the Pot O'Gold Production Contest with Waunakee Plus Jolt 3277.
Nick Bagge Mikayla Lien Kara Maxwell

Several Iowa juniors were recognized for achievements at the summer picnic. Nick Bagge, Worthington, was named winner of the 2015 Iowa Jersey Youth Achievement Award. Mikayla Lien, Calmar, earned the Iowa Jersey Cattle Club Scholarship and will receive $500 toward her college expenses. Kara Maxwell, Donahue, was crowned as the Iowa Jersey Princess. Iowa Spring Extravaganza Sale

Thank you to the buyers who made this year's Iowa Spring Extravaganza Sale such a success. The event auctioned 47 lots for an average of $2,935.64. The high seller, Underground Emilys Charm, sold for $8,900 to Landree Fraley, Muncy, PA. She was consigned by Anthony and Deb Crothers, Pitcher, NY. CLICK HERE for a report. Iowa Jersey breeder Dana Metzger of Rock Rapids was named winner of the Progressive Dairy Producer award in the large herd division by National Dairy Shrine. He was honored at the organization's banquet held during World Dairy Expo in Madison, WI.

Junior Kudos

Iowa juniors have done well in competitions in recent months.

Kara Maxwell, Donahue, topped the 2011 National Youth Production Contest with Cinnamon Ridge Rasmus Lily (left). Kara also placed fifth in the 2011 National Youth Achievement Contest and received the William A. Russell Memorial Scholarship. She placed sixth in the 2012 Pot O'Gold Production Contest with Jazzy Impuls 3084.

At the Iowa Summer Picnic, Megan Lien, Calmar, received the Iowa Jersey Youth Achievement Award.
