John Rankin of Cedarcrest Farms, Faunsdale, AL, for purchasing BRJ-Arco Harrison Leg Belle H-95 from the Deep South and Southeast Heifer Growers South Sale in April. The sixth-month-old member of the "Belle" family was the fourth-high seller.

GENETIC EVALUATIONS

SAR Andre
Excellent-95%

The herd was just appraised in January and the news is good. SAR Andre was appraised Excellent-95% and SAR Chairman Tiger Lily and Hard Core Jade Fortuna-ET were both made Excellent-93%.

We have four new Excellents and SC Gold Dust Governor Angela A52-ET was appraised Very Good-88% in her first lactation. Bush River is now home to 32 Excellent and 246 Very Good cows and the average appraisal is 81%.

HONOR ROLL and HALL OF FAME RECORDS
3rd and 4th Quarters 2009

Three members of the herd made Honor Roll and Hall of Fame records during the second half of 2009.

Hall of Fame: SAR Charlie Faucet made 26,180M, 1,108F and 891P with a cheese yield of 3,005 lbs.

Honor Roll: BRJ Bomber Broadway Lily Ann W-3 made 25,688 - 1,165 - 920 with a cheese yield of 3,139 lbs. (m.e. basis).

Honor Roll: Arco-BRJ Jace Mannix Belle W-18-ET made 26,111 - 1,277 - 929 with a cheese yield of 3,212 lbs. (m.e. basis).

We are pleased to wrap up the 2009 show season with stellar results at The All American Jersey Show in Louisville, KY.

Cumberlands MCT Sassafras was named All American Intermediate Heifer Calf, SAR Apollo Tessa was Reserve All American Junior Two-Year-Old and BRJ Sultan Kody Bell R-60 was Reserve Junior All American Junior Three-Year-Old.

We had six other top-10 placings in the open show as well.

Bush River Jerseys began bottling All-Jersey® milk in glass bottles on October 12.

The move is great for the environment and great for the consumer as glass bottles are returnable, recyclable and perfect for enjoying the delicious, nutritious milk that comes only from our Registered Jersey cows!
